Dim poster with a smart idea

An Amsterdam-based restaurant, CTaste, gives their patrons a chance to dine in the dark, allowing them to experience a "journey of taste, sound and touch". The restaurant aims to serve food bursting with flavour, enhancing the taste experience even more by taking away the ability to see their meal. Even the waiters that serve you are blind/visually impaired, so you well and truly get a feel for their world by the end of the night.

To convey the same experience had when visiting the restaurant, CTaste released this poster – a very dark visual with the only text featured appearing dimly at the bottom. It is striking in it's appearance, you can imagine how much it would stand out amongst a string of colorful posters all screaming for viewer attention. Your eyes almost need to adjust to the dark in order to view the dining scene spread before you. It is intriguing, that's for sure, and portrayed in an interesting way. But is it really doing the restaurant justice?

The Green Room Verdict: We understand that this would stand out from the crowd, and we get that it's trying to show the dining experience of CTaste. Even so, do you find this poster very appetizing? We're not sure that we do. However, perhaps CTaste has done well in trying to show the theme of the restaurant instead of the food it prepares – it is the restaurants' point of difference after all.
