Picture this: you take your partner out one evening to see a quiet movie, but the only 2 seats left in the cinema are amongst 148 tattooed bikers. Oh, and they aren't just tattooed – they've got brawn and grimaces to match. So would you stay or would you go? Several couples were subjected to this very scenario as part of the 'That Calls for a Carlsberg' campaign, and some of their reactions were pretty hilarious.
Some of the unknowing couples escape the cinema upon seeing the bikers (one gent muttering "this is not what we paid for!") while others brave the situation and try to act like everything is normal. Upon taking their seats, the bikers erupt into applause and hand the stunned couples a beer each, and the text 'that calls for a Carlsberg' is displayed on the movie screen. Brilliant!
The Green Room Verdict: Carslberg's new strapline was introduced at the beginning of the year, aiming to promote the beer as standing for tradition, quality and great taste. The stunt by Belgian agency Duval Guillaume Modem has a bit of fun with the idea of making the right (and sometimes difficult) choices. Several similarities have been noted between this stunt and the Heineken Italy viral that was awarded a Cannes Gold Medal Lion last year, which is also worth having a peek at.
