Dancify Yourself

Choose a tune, challenge a friend and boogie on down. These three notions have been what the popular XBox Kinect games are all about. However, when promoting the new Dance Central game, these three elements were transferred brilliantly into a smartphone app – making use of a smartphone's camera, the app's 'dancify' technology and social media – to spread the word and hype up the latest Kinect game.

After downloading the app, users are asked to pick a song and film themselves dancing to their tune of choice. Once filmed, users then 'dancify' themselves to create a unique music video with some extra pizzazz and effects – reversing moves, repeating steps, and adding in custom animation. Users can then share their video, or challenge a friend to battle via Facebook. The competition joins the two videos into one so that other friends can vote on who boogied down the best.

The Green Room Verdict: The potential for fun-based feature apps is proving to be massive, and this is an awesome case – it's already got a big following. We love the added link into Facebook. Friend-sharing is a great touch for spreading the word about the app/Kinect game, while also creating fun (and potentially hilarious) memories that are sure to stick around for time to come. There's also the potential to create a global competition with a prize for the video with the most votes. Break it down.
