King Kong's trek to his new home

Santa Monica beach in Los Angeles is a popular destination for all kinds of tourists… from shoppers, to surfers, to giant apes. Yep, you heard right, even King Kong has had a stroll along this famous shore. But he wasn't there to stay – he was just making his way to his new home at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The huge 15 foot footprints, complete with a crushed lifeguard vehicle, were left in the sand to promote the King Kong 3D attraction which opened at the theme park last year. Designed by Peter Jackson, the new attraction saw to an array of King Kong-related sightings, including these footprints found at the Dodger Stadium.

The Green Room Verdict: What a sight, and what an effect. This stunt gained extra publicity when it made its way into the local media, but for those who saw the giant footprints first hand, they may not have registered the link to the King Kong attraction right away. This could easily be overcome using actors to inform passer-bys of the incident, and to be wary of another possible King Kong encounters when traveling in the Universal Studios area.
